  5. "In the 1890s, when Freud was in the dawn of his career, he was struck by how many of his female patients were revealing childhood [sexual] victimization to him. Freud concluded that child sexual abuse was one of the major causes of emotional disturbances in adult women and wrote a brilliant and humane paper called “The Aetiology of Hysteria.” However, rather than receiving acclaim from his colleagues for his ground-breaking insights, Freud met with scorn. He was ridiculed for believing that men of excellent reputation (most of his patients came from upstanding homes) could be perpetrators of incest.
Within a few years, Freud buckled under this heavy pressure and recanted his conclusions. In their place he proposed the “Oedipus complex,” which became the foundation of modern psychology… Freud used this construct to conclude that the episodes of abuse his clients had revealed to him had never taken place; they were simply fantasies of events the women had wished for… This construct started a hundred-year history in the mental health field of blaming victims for the abuse perpetrated on them and outright discrediting of women’s and children’s reports of mistreatment by men."

Just remember that any reputable psychologist doesn’t actually buy Freud’s famous stuff, and if you think that’s all psychology is then you don’t know about psychology, but yeah, the influence that it had then and still has on some people is really messed up. It’s a shame that no one respected his actual good work. I need to read Lundy Bancroft’s book.

  6. Do you feel like you grew up in a household that affirmed you as a human being? If you could change something about your household, what would you change and why?

I feel like I did. I was given a lot of autonomy from an early age and my parents discusses things with me all the time. If I could change something about my household growing up… I dunno, probably my parents’ marriage, as they didn’t really get along by the time I was an adolescent and then got a divorce. Maybe things would have turned out better.

  7. You still didn't answer my question!!!

  8. what's your favorite liquor? fav mixed drink, beer, or wine? fav non alcoholic drink?

Hmmm. Probably Fireball, since that’s my go-to liquor. I love SoCo & lime for a mixed drink though, love me some Blue Moon beer, and uhhh I’m kind of a wine pleb and I drink whatever light white wine my girlfriend buys. As far as non-alcoholic drinks go… I love iced tea!
